I have a 18X24 Outsak (2100 ci, 10.5 oz). I was real excited about this. I ordered it from SimpleOutdoorStore and it arrived to me on the 3rd mail day after order, bu USPS! I used it on a 5 night 4 day hiking trip on a 40 mile section of the GA AT. It is simply a large stainless steel sack with a piece of velcro across the top and a loop to hang it. I fit all 3 of my 12 X 20 Opsacks (not completly full), my cookset, and 2 32 oz Gatoraide bottles inside it. If I would have really tried I couldve fit more but I just shoved it all in there! While I know its not bear proof, or even water proof, it is rodent proof. I believed that this was important, as long as it was hung correctly so that the bears couldnt get to it! I must happily report that my food was not touched, by bear or rodent!! Great stuff! I would definately recomend the Outsak to anyone that will be carrying food overnight, whether your in bear country or not! Rodents are everywhere! And SimpleOutdoorStore is the place to get it!

I hiked Grand Canyon and we used an Outsak. It was suggested to us at the permit desk at the park. Previously all I have used is a nylon bag, or I would sleep with my food. The rangers weren't trying to sell me one, just suggested that I think about how I was going to store my food. They mentioned rodents and ringtails like to raid campsites. They showed me a mesh bag that stops small animals from getting at your food. I bought a medium. That night, in our hotel room, we looked at the manufacturer's website www.simpleoutdoorstore.com and they had some suggestions, in video form, of how to use the bag properly. Very helpful stuff. I bought one, hesitantly, every penny counts these days. We used it for 3 nights/4 days. It worked wonderfylly. On two nights we were able to hang it, on the third we left it on the ground (mostly trash in there at that point) and all seemed fine. It got a bit wrinkled along the way, but I can see it making it through several more trips.

I love this bag. It was shown to me by a friend and I can't stop saying good things about it. I've seen first hand how it stops critters. We had an animal prowl our site, somehow got to our hung Outsak bag, but it couldn't get in...HA!!

The outsack [Outsak] worked great! We spent 4 days in Paria Canyon ∼ notorious for destructive rodents. We set up a base camp and took day trips, leaving the food (in odorless bags) for several hours at a time in our vestibule (to hide from the ravens patiently wating for us to leave). The food was also exposed all night long. There were rodent tracks everywhere, but no damage to anything. We have had problems with canyon mice and rats before ∼ getting into tents, chewing through packs and odorless bags ∼ but not this time. The outsacks rolled up easily and we strapped them to the back of our packs. Awesome gear!
